Several different things that have helped me:
(And the sooner you can do it after the bite, the better)
1. Tea tree oil
2. Lavender oil
3. Showering the area under the hottest water I can tolerate for a few minutes
4. This year I bought this new little Italian device that literally zaps the area. A bit scary, but it seems to work. I live in New Zealand, not sure if you'll be able to find it where you live.
5. These haven't worked for me personally, but are worth experimenting with: the homeopathic remedies Ledum, Caladium or Culex. (Choose one and take a dose every few minutes until consistent relief obtained. Give up if it doesn't help after 20 minutes or so.) Topically, preparations with the homeopathic remedies Calendula or Urtica urens.
Prevention is better than cure.
1. B vitamins are water-soluble and seem to change your skin's odour, repelling mosquitoes. Take enough that your urine is consistently yellower than normal..
2. Lavender and tea tree oils can be applied to ankles, wrists, etc. There are also natural sprays containing similar ingredients.
3. In the home, there are products which spray a little Pyrethrin (a natural extract from marigolds) into the air every few minutes. Very effective. I find the smell--which doesn't linger--pleasant as well, but you can also get an unscented (possibly artificial) variety (but then how would you know when the can is empty?)
Good luck!

prevention is better than cure - get yourself annointed with a suitable spray or cream to avert the little blighters. If necessary, fit a mosquito net around your window/bed. Believe me, it's worth it. Once they get a taste of you, they'll be back for more.
If cool showers, cold compresses and the application of topical lotions (or herbal types), many on the web and in answers already, don't ease the itch, visit your doctor - might be able to give you an injection or prescription pills which will have an immediate relieving effect...i'm beginning to itch as I write this, having an allergy to mosquito bites, and having spent several holidays looking like the elephant man because of bites on the face and head...I do sympathise.
Oh, and wear cool loose clothing in natural fibres - while bitten - and put elastoplasts on the worst ones, to stop you scratching.... I've found that helps.

If you dont have alot of them, try putting some Ambesol on them. It has something in it that will numb the area. You may need to reapply, but the itching will stop for a while and the bites will heal better.

Aloe vera extract is the best natural remedy for bites and stings, it is also great as an after sun treatment.
You can buy it as a gel, or if you have any aloe vera in your garden you can just break off some of the plant and rub the aloe on to the affected area.
