It depends a lot on the area where you live and the reputation of the shop.
For example, at one shop (in the city) where I worked I got the reputation of being very good at doing the breed trims. I go to a lot of dog shows and study the correct breed appearance, as well as reading studying the correct presentation for the various breeds. Then I would adapt the trim for pet owners, so the dog had the correct lines and appearance, but maybe wasn't as long as a show dog, or was clipped instead of hand-stripped. So once I had a few customers with a certain breed that were happy with the cut, they told their friends with the same breed and soon I had a whole bunch of clients wanting the breed cuts.
The place where I work part-time now is in the country, and we mostly do shave-downs there, with the occasional breed trim.

I do. But as I used to show and groom show dogs, and have since had my dogs fixed, I still love to see them in full show coat and get a kick out of how beatiful they look, but it´s a lot of work which I do myself. It wouldn´t be very practical to have someone keep my dogs like this if I had to pay for it because it would be truly expensive. It´s all about the money, if you pay for a dog to be groomed in show order, it is usually because you one day expect to somehow make money off of this dog and can therefore justify the expense. Few people do it out of love for the trade, at least that has been my experience when dealing with dog owners.

i think of you're style of top yet employing the incorrect wording. In a muddle of say 10 doggies from even the ideal breeding of purebreds there temperaments would be in all places and you're able to attempt the muddle to discover the canines that's real for you and for what artwork you meant this canines to do. traits i think of for the main area say 2 purebreds mixed mutually will produce a canines that sounds like what you're speaking approximately yet in all possibility wont look very solid. that's amazingly like in case you flow to a canines prepare i will many times %. out the incredible canines the canines that makes you look two times and from time to time much extra and it is not significant the breed. i understand generic Poodles and Mini Poodles or maybe undesirable breed poodles nevertheless have characteristic that lead them to poodles upload in a million/2 good shape and wellbeing and a powerful temperment and you have got a solid puppy.

I have a welsh terrier than is neutered so he cannot be shown. But we keep him in a proper terrier cut because that is how he looks his cutest. People that just "buzz" their dogs do not want to be hassled with the upkeep of the coat between visits to the groomer.

Just wanted to note..AKC does NOT decide what type of cut or even breed standard that a dog breed has...it is the PARENT BREED CLUB that decides on that. AKC is a registering body ONLY.

We keep our Mini Schnauzer in a typical schnauzer cut, but we don't hand-strip the coat like show dogs do. We also go shorter on the trimmings, the beard, and the eyebrows than you would for a show dog.

People who keep companion dogs typically don't care about the standard cuts.
I myself keep a companion dog, but I was responsible enough to think about grooming and care before I got him, and I got a dog that was easy to manage.
That's the problem, right htere. They see beautiful, well groomed dogs and expect theirs to look like that with little to no work.
