Does the diet work?

Yes. It works really well, but in the short-term only, while you are on the diet. Once you go off the diet, because it is basically a starvation diet, you gain all the weight back PLUS more. I know this personally due to knowing atleast 5 people (friends, family and co-workers) who have all used this diet and lost great sums quickly, BUT EVERYONE OF THEM gained it all back PLUS some!

I suggest trying this free weight loss website which has worked well for me before going to such an extreme program as Dr. Bernstein. http://www.sparkpeople.com

Good luck!

It really doesn't sound much different than any other typical diet. Eat less, change your habits, etc, etc. Sounds like to make up for the low calorie intake that you get minerals and vitamins from an injection though.

Basically, the huge, obvious problem with this diet is it simply not going to be a long-term change. In order to lose weight and keep it off, behavior has to change and you can't go in for vitamin and mineral injections for the rest of your life just to maintain your figure. Eventually you're going to be on your own, trying to get those vitamins and minerals from the foods you eat, and that means eating more food, which means more calories, which means you're going to gain at least some of the weight back.

Light cardio exercise a couple days a week for 30 minutes, practicing portion control, and dedicating yourself to eating only 1200-1500 calories per day is going to be much more effective than losing a bunch of weight quickly and then regaining all or most of it back. Just simply eating less of what you eat now is probably going to be hundreds or thousands of dollars cheaper, too.

To the simple question "does this diet work," yes. Of course it does. Eating less is going to result in weight loss. Simple science.

Im not very keen on the low carb diets, you need carbs its just a matter of choosing the right ones...;

Ask Mike Bullard, He was on it and lost weight. Any diet will work if you learn how to eat properly and healthy.
