I walk 1 hour a day, 5 days a week. I just started this last week. Sometimes I feel off balance is that normal? Almost like im gonna fall or pass out. Im 250lbs and only 5'2". I want to lose a good 50lbs to start with.
Is there a certain amount of miles I should walk within an hour? So that I know im walking fast enough.
I also cut out all sweets, soda and junk food. I bought fruits and healthy snacks. The 100 calorie snacks are good.

You can try www.sparkpeople.com
It is a healthy way to lose weight and best of all, it is FREE!!!.
You type in how much you want to lose and by when etc...and they plan out your meals so you can achieve your goal. They have a calorie counter and everything. Plus they give you a fitness plan according to what type of exercising you like to do. The exercises can be done at home like dumbells, resistance bands & ball. You can also choose from walking, jogging,or a home video. There's many different options. It's like having a private nutritionist. You also have support from the members and the experts answer your ?'s. A real neat site. I'm quite impressed.
Enjoy!

God Bless!

Take it easy. After not exercising at all, that may be a bit much to start out at. Try walking for 30 minutes. Then increase it by 5 minutes every week. You can't just jump right in to big time exercise and dieting after doing nothing for a long time. At 250 lbs., you are more than 100 lbs. overweight. Because you didn't put all that weight on in a short time, it's not going to come off in a short amount of time, either. And coming off too fast is not healthy--and you will put it right back on if you stop. Don't starve yourself! And don't make such big goals. Start out small or the first time you slip and eat more than you should and have been--you will get frustrated and quit. Don't freak over the holidays. Eat, but just in moderation. Make a goal of 20 lbs. by February 1. That's attainable. Once you hit that, then make another 20 lbs goal.

what you are doing is good - keep it up. I am doing a similar thing.

BUT ... whenever you feel bad, uncomfortable or sick you should listen to your body.

Do not try to do everything at once, take it easier if you feel discomfort.

If you do not you will either hurt yourself or burn out and not be able to continue on the positive road you have put yourself on.

Do not speed! ;-)

Another study I read recently says that walking more times for shorter periods is better than one long walk. So, if an hour walk hurts your body, then walk for 20 minutes 3 times a day.

Also I would skip a day every once in a while when you get tired or sore.

You might feel off balance because you are burning more calories than you are use to and your body is trying to adjust, just keep at it. GOOD FOR YOU! Try keeping your calorie intake under 1500 calories per day and watch things like soda. in fact... Dont drink soda, drink water, its so much better for you. If you drink coffee, use sweet n low, and low calorie creamer... these things work and are usually priced the same as regular stuff and taste the same. Good luck!

More than likely you're just dehydrated so drink plenty of water or your favorite sports drink before during and after exercise! To lose weight all you have to do is burn more calories than you eat. To burn the most fat you must reach your training heart rate for at least 20 minutes, go here to see what your's is:

All you do with this chart is look for your age, the numbers above are your training heart rate.

Here's another chart to make it easier for you to determine your heart rate, it's a 10 second chart:

Use the 50 to 70% numbers to be safe!!

Integrate these formulas into your fitness routine and you will see huge weight loss!!!!!! Good luck with your training :-)

it sounds like you are having withdrawals from the sugar, soda and junk food. you might want to have a doc check you out though as your blood pressure could be high and when you excessive even though its good for you it can increase it. eventually as you lose weight your blood pressure will drop but to be safe make sure your doc is aware of the change in your diet and your excessive. it sounds like you are doing good, keep at it and good luck.
