Really hard one. It could be something that he just "grows" out of. One of mine stopped digging (up the carpet...awesome) sometime between 9 months old and a year old. The other one I just had to watch constantly so I could correct her the second she started. Its tough when they are sneaky and do it the second you stop looking.

Tell him the next hole he digs will be his own. :)
I wish I knew. I've pretty much given up, at least my dog is down to one hole now. He digs it up, I fill it in. Repeat.
I heard you can put some of his own poop in the hole, then fill it in, but that didn't work for us. Try it if you like.
