why do thier pee smell so bad?

Cats should only drink water. Although they love milk, it gives them diarrhea.
Cat urine is composed of five different bacteria strains. Two of the identified bacteria strains are in cat marking scent, and the others are in the cat urine, the spray, and the uric acid. The bacteria is the main culprit responsible for the eye-watering, stomach-clenching cat urine smell. Cats usually don't lap up water in great quantities like other animals, so their urine tends to be extremely concentrated. This concentration of bacteria results in the strong smell that is unique to cat urine.
The longer the cat urine sits without being cleaned up, the stronger the smell will get. I would suggest cleaning your litter box more often and adding some baking soda on the bottom of the box before putting fresh litter in. You can also sprinkle baking soda on top of the box a couple times a day if it's that bad. Just clean the box every day and scrub it down completely with bleach once a week.

Yes. Cats have to drink water in order to survive. its common in all living things. And the reason cat urine smells so bad is because when a cat eats and/or drinks water, they're digestive system only filters out the nutrients and the rest is sent to they're bladder and ends up in the litter box (sometimes for other cats, on the floor). The urine has a very foul smell because of the feces in the cat's waste. I hope this answers your question!!!!

Yes they're only supposed to drink water, although they love milk, it actually does damage to their internal organs. And the whole smelly pee thing.....maybe if you move the litter box to somewhere else or get an odor eating litter. That's what I have and I can never smell a thing when I go into my laundry room. Try it and I hope it helps!!

If the smell from the urine is really strong, then your cat might not be getting enough water. Just like humans, the color and smell of urine will generally lessen in strength with more water. Pay attention next time you use the bathroom and you'll see what I mean. If you know she's getting alot of water talk to your vet. It could be serious.

yes, they should only drink water. It's pee, how do you want it to smell? Some have more concentrated urine smell, some don't. It just depends on the animal. But pee is pee.
