Our beagle is in heat. She got out of the house and was gone all day. I am just wondering is there a way to tell if she was mated while she was out. Today would be her 8th day in heat. Thanks

Wait and see. The answer will soon be apparent -or not.

I am sorry to say that there is no way to tell for sure until the dog is actually showing and has milk coming out of her teats and a discharge. A normal ***** is not normally able to be bred until her Proestrus, which is aprox. 12 days into the heat. You know what the best way to prevent this is? FIX THE DOG!!

The 8th day is a bit early, but that doesn't mean she couldn't have been bred, all dogs are individuals.

If you cannot be responsible and manage an intact ***** properly, then get her spayed!!!

If it becomes pregnant, then yes, otherwise there is not any way to know, just as with humans.
