As the women were apparently poisoned, does this mean a woman could have killed the victims? Iv not heard yet of any conclusive rape or dna evidence, to say for sure it was a man. I realise it usually is, but what if the detectives are looking in the wrong place?

Why dont people think a woman is strong enuf? I know 20 stone women and 6 stone women, One could easily overpower the other. and the 1 that was strangled did NOT die of suffication. That could have been a trick she was pulling for someone.

its unusual surely that only 1 was raped, it must be fairly difficult to tell if a prostitute has been raped, considering the dna she invites into herself on a daily basis. Also the papers this morning claimed no apparent cause of death had been found on the most recent cases, and toxology was being done.

Thats a fantastic question! especially as there was no signs of a struggle because a man is more likely to overcome all of his victims! altough she could be a vry butch woman! but yes its a fifty fifty chance of her being a woman! gr8 question!

It's possible but not probable. Most woman who murder do so on the spur of the moment.Be it in passion, rage or retaliation after suffering years of abuse. One thing that I am almost sure of though is that, a woman killer would not strip the bodies and dump them naked.Whoever the killer is, I think it's a local man who wants the bodies to be found,(he could just as easily dump them in the sea or the estuary) and he is on a time scale. That means he is just popping out as normal doing the dirty deed and going home just as if nothing has happened.Aged about mid thirties to early forties, probably married and living a pretty normal life. Our police aren't stupid ,they know the m.o. and don't forget they cannot release all details because there are things that only the killer knows. Saying that they should step up a gear now before any more of these young women are murdered. I really hope they catch the bastard quickly and my heart goes out to the families of the dead girls.By the way I didn't see anything in the media about poison!!!????

There is a possibility of it being a woman, they actually said so at the press conference yesterday. However, it is unlikely as most serial killers are male. Additionally, although not all woman do not have the strength to carry out the crimes, most would not, (to come to that neither are most men).

At the moment serial Killer is a misnomer the person is a spree killer someone who takes little time between killing. In addition at this time there is nothing that has been released to say it is the same person that has killed all 5 women. It may be 2 or more people in "copycat killings".

also see below for a list of most well known UK serial killers
* Beverley Allitt - an Angel of Death; Paediatric nurse who killed four patients and injured at least nine others, convicted in 1991
* Robert Black - schoolgirl killer
* Ian Brady and Myra Hindley - the Moors Murderers
* George Chapman - real name Severin Antoniovich Klosowski, poisoned three women, but suspected of being Jack the Ripper
* John Childs - burned the bodies of his six victims, jailed 1980

* John George Haigh - the Acid Bath Murderer or Vampire of London

Is it beyond your comprehension that someone might have a better understanding of this case than you, based on their experience or knowledge?
'Pocket Battleship' may have got their info from a paper, but I can assure you what he/she says is exactly right - it's not impossible that it's a woman, but it's extremely unlikely. There are no instances of female serial killers of this type.
You should also remember 'Fitz' is a fictional character, made to be entertaining...there are those of us who study criminal psychology and psychological profiling of criminals and sadly it's nothing like what you see on TV or films.

It is either a woman a group of women, a man or a group of men. It is a very sus crime case. I hope whoever is responsible will be caught soon. It could well be a woman killer. Do you remember Rosemary West when she killed young women and teenagers.

Look out everyone... its Columbo.

Seriously.. some of the women have been strangled. You need power for that. And how many prossies would walk of with another woman client. Quite few - but it would be unusual.

intriguing thought, very intriguing but i think there is very little scope for motive in a situation where a female is killing prostitutes. it's easier to suspect a man who's life was ruined by a prostitute and then had his mental health deteriorate, even than the same situation happening for a woman: she's more likely to blame the man I think.

but it is still very intriguing.

That's a very thought provoking question, the Ipswich killer could be a woman, that means that everyone (and not just prostitutes) could be on their guard!

It said on the tv tonight the last one was strangled,

Also how could a woman have carried them from the road to where they were found ,she would have to be built like man mountain.
