I like the mixed grill idea especially since I've served up to 55 that way. Good Luck!

I can answer this from experience. Some things always needed: Diapers Baby Wipes Bottles Nipples Wash Cloths Towels Soap Shampoo/Conditioner Feminine Hygiene Products Deodorant Cleaning Supplies Onsies Blankets Some items always appreciated: Magazines Books Board Games Instant Tea and Coffee Stationery Stamps Makeup Hair Products Toys Puzzles I think gift baskets are a great idea :) Unfortunately, shelters usually won't distribute individual gift cards and the residents don't always see the benefits of those. I would discourage a party just because it's kind of embarrassing if it is a homeless shelter. While everything is appreciated and the residents like to be there to thank you...those kind of parties are often awkward. They wouldn't be allowed at a domestic violence shelter. At a nursing home, though, I'm sure they would be welcomed. I would suggest doing web searches for shelters and/or calling the local library, newspaper, or department of health and human services. They usually know who needs what and how badly. Also, since you mentioned low-income, you could search for your local public housing apartments. If you call the office with your ideas, they might be able to tell you of a family or two in need of help, or give you a list of how many and how old the children are in that particular complex. Good luck!

Basically, you just described a Spanish omelet with a side of hash browns. you could take all but the toast and make that or a big skillet of scrambled eggs (Mexican style) just melt some Cheddar cheese on top. if you want to cut back on the price tag and time, you would be surprised how fast and in-expensive a mess of Eggs Benedict goes. softy fry the ham slices, make the Bennie sauce and a real fast way to soft cook a lot of eggs at one time is to get a pot of boiling water with an ounce or even two of vinegar and crack your eggs right in the water. While water is trying to boil, start toasting your English muffins and as the eggs are done and coming out of the pot with a sieve type spoon, lay the muffin down, ham, eggs and top with Bennie sauce, Garnish with twisted orange slice. This feeds a lot of people quick with little effort. Toss in a small plate of hash browns and happy eating. :)

Sounds lovely but you may want t do something for anyone who fancies something less greasy? I love a fried breakfast but some people dont. Perhaps something like this:
Museli
Ingredients
2 handfuls of porridge oats
8 dried apricots
6 dried dates
A handful of sultanas
12 cashew nuts
1 eating apple
soya milk
plain soya yoghurt
fresh blueberries
This is best prepared the night before.
Chop all of the dried fruit and cashew nuts into small pieces. Mix them together in a dish with the porridge oats.
Pour over soya milk until the mixture is covered. Peel, core and grate the apple and mix into the muesli mixture.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.
The next morning stir the mixture and add a few spoonfuls of plain soya yoghurt and a handful of blueberries.

Leave the mushrooms in. I love mushrooms and they are vital for vegetarians. Are there any vegetarians coming to this breakfast? Include some cereal for them. Oh and fry the hash browns in vegetable oil, not animal fat.

Make it simple for yourself - everything you mentioned is great - if there are going to be children you might think about some cereals.
Mixed fruit salad and yogurt on the side is nice too.
Keep you eggs simple - scramble them all - don't offer anything else!!!!
Breakfast quiche is great also!!!

Get a bunch of eggs, a couple of packages of bacon, some Pace picante, maybe some papas, and flour tortillas. Just make 'em a shitload of breakfast tacos. Oh, and coffee. REAL coffee, none of that fake Starbucks crap.

take out the mushrooms, alot of people don't like them and are allergic. But other than that you seem to be alright. Maybe try mini muffins if you looking for something that is tasty but not too large.
