ive been thinking about getting another pit but i want to leave my mind open to other breeds. i want a mediem to large dog though

The way I've always picked my dog was on the first meeting, did we hit it off. I have 2 terrier mixed dogs and with both of them we hit it off the very minute we met.

Try a catahoula its the best dog i have ever had. It is the state dog of louisiana. It also goes by louisiana lepord dog. It is good around kids but is very territorial. Mine Weighs about 100 lbs. The breed originates from wolf mastiff and grey hound. It just killed 2 pits that attacked my son. It is a GREAT dog.

Go to your local Humane Society and pick out one of their lovable pups that are sitting on doggie death row. I got a lab beagle mix from our local pound and she is the sweetest most loving pup you'll ever meet. Not only will you get to pick a great dog out for your family, you will also save a precious life. Not to mention it's cheaper and the pound usually gives them all their up to date shots, etc. Good luck with your search. BTW I also have a black lab and a german shepard. All our pups get along great.

I would deffinately consider looking at some of your local adoption agencies for dogs. i foster dogs and personally, i have had some of the BEST dogs ever. mutts are great. maybe find a dog as a mix of two of your favorite breeds. but consider adopting and look at them and spend time with them before you purchase a dog even if it is your favorite breed.

I grew up with a great dane. They are so smart and loyal. Calm and gentle as can be with family members, but fiercly protective. Mom used to leave us outside with just the dog to watch us. And she would really chase away anyone that came near us.

i have a pit mix and he's the best thing in the world. I also have a german shepherd lab mix and he's even better!

if you want a big dog you should get a golden retriever
