Free project software?

My daughter has a project due...what software can I get for her to type out her report?

If your are using Windows then WordPad will work just fine.

OpenOffice (http://www.openoffice.org/) is a good choice. It's very useful for scientific and mathematical documents because it has an inbuilt LaTeX like parser for mathematical formulas.

Otherwise, it's like Microsoft Office.

If you just want to get to make a normal document then you need Microsoft Word. You can go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/ and search for MS Word.
