Good communication is necessary. But, don't bring the subject up while you are in the act, unless you and your boyfriend are VERY comfortable with sex. Otherwise, the mood might be destroyed. check for his responses as you are going down. if he is into it you will definitely know by the moans, facial expressions, or even an unexpected nut. but if you are going to have a sexual relationship with someone it's best to already have an idea of what the guy likes before you hop in bed with him. if you can't read the guy then ask him what he likes (not in the middle of sex though) and try to do it.
