Im also using CITALOPRAM. I haven't put any extra weight on. Don't drink alcohol with theses tablets as they'll make your depression 100 X worse. Previously I was taking Mirtazapine and they do make you put weight on.

I took citalopram for about 15 years and my weight didn't alter at all. All antidepressants can cause weight gain or loss, but this can also be caused by the depression or anxiety.Citalopram is one of the better SSRI antidepressants and any side effects are usually short lived. The most common side effect is short term stomach upset.

I hope you don't start youself down the road to taking antidepressants in volume.. let me point out to you that if you go to a doctor and tell him you are depressed and feel listless and if he thinks you have the symptoms of depression, then you will be prescribed something that matches up to the symptoms.. instead of taking some kind of crap given to you based on a assumption.. go find the root cause of how you feel.. an antidepressant does not fix anything.. if just covers it up.. question is, do you want to drug yourself or fix yourself.. your choice.

Yes some do,depends on which ones your taking.
A newer drug Moclobemide is much less likely to lead to unwanted symptoms, when taken with food,so no dietry requirement are needed.
You should have been given a card when you started the drug therapy, telling you what you should not eat.

Good luck with Citalopram. i found the side effects so bad I came off it quickly and cold turkey style.
Most anti-depressants affect your weight, as they affect your mood. If you eat when you're content anti-depressants will make you eat more, as you'll feel more content. If you don't eat when you're feeling content you'll lose weight.

Some do, did you read the side effects on the package when you got the prescription filled? You can look the drug up on line and you can also call your doctor or pharmacist and ask them.

It is possible to lose or gain weight from anti-depressants. It all depends on the individual person.

I don't know how old you are. Do you need pills ? It's probably the food you eat affecting your weight. Please, please talk to someone. If it can't be your doctor or family, you can call the Samaritans (if you are in UK).Good luck to you
