My 2 year old daughter has had diahrea for three days and just started vomiting last night, but has not vomited today. The doc said give her peptobismo and it doesn't seem to be helping. Anyone else got some advice for me.

Take her back to the doctor. She may have something serious. Take her to a different doc though. The one you currently have sounds like a douche-bag. Pepto for a two year old with the craps. It's ridiculous. She not even in the range to even be taking that stuff. She may have the flu or food poisoning.

Well, she should be drinking more fluids such as pedialyte so she doesn't become dehydrated, but as for the diarrhea, I've found that Lactinex works wonders. It completely cleared up my daughter's diarrhea in 2 days...sounds like a while to wait, but hear me out. Within a few hours, her diarrhea turned into soft stools...then it turned into just slightly soft stools and the second day, it was completely gone. So it does start working immediately.

Lactinex is a little tricky to find so call a few pharmacies before you go looking. It's kept behind the counter b/c it has to be refrigerated and it's a bit pricey, but works GREAT! Get the granules and put it in some apple sauce for her. Just a bit of apple sauce to make sure she'll be able to eat it all. (Or if you'd like, mix it with any other food/drink). Give it to her about 3-4 times a day. (If she's under 2, give it to her 2 times a day). One word of warning, if she's allergic to milk, this is NOT for her.

I just really liked how effective this was and it didn't taste bad, etc. Maybe give her bland foods, such as applesauce, and things with a high water content...and plenty of liquids!!!

Best of luck!

Pepto to a 2 year old????? Is your doctor a quack????

I am not a doctor but my advice to you is this - let the diahrrea run its course but make sure you are keeping her fluids up - plenty of water and some clear juice (apple). You do not want her to get dehydrated.

Also, make sure to give her something binding like rice or bananas - just plain also dry toast. After she starts to feel better, introduce dairy back into her diet.

My grandmother's age old remedy - peel an apple and let it get brown. Feed it to your daughter and that will help with the diahrrea.

And if all this does not work - seek a second opinion from a doctor who truly cares about your daughter not to just dismiss her illness with a freaking teaspoon of Pepto which will do her more harm than good!

There has been a stomach virus going around where I live- and goodness knows how badly those things can get spread all over. (A few months ago my daughter had hand-foot-mouth disease. We live in Georgia- I read about kids on here that were from across the country that had the same thing...you'd be amazed at how sickness can spread). Is your daughter running a fever? Is she drinking clear liquids? I'm not a doctor, so I would really suggest you find a doctor to see her ASAP. It could be a simple virus that will clear up in a few days, but I wouldn't take any chances. She could become dehydrated quickly. Get her to the doctor!!!

Take her to the ER, diahrea for 3 days can dehydrate her. Never heard of giving pepto to a 2 yr old, get another doc.

Asjk your doctor if she can take Ammodium? I don't know because shes only 2! That will control the Diharea And for the vomiting just let her vomit you cannot control it! Let it all out! Give her lots of rest andeven though she'll act not thirsty try to give her some water! MAke sure she gets LOTS of rest so her body v=can control the virus! This is probably just an normaal virus!

Find another doctor - even if the current one is right, it never hurts to get a second opinion. If she is having diahhrea and vomiting, something is wrong besides a common cold. If it is viral, nothing can be done but waiting it out and controlling the symptoms (Pepto, etc). But if it is bacterial, she can be given antibiotics to get it under control. Ask for a referral to another pediatrician.

If tears come out when she cries and her lips are not dry, signs are good that she is not dehydrated. Give her pedialyte but try to feed her starchy foods like white rice, spaghetti with a little butter (no sauces), breads, crackers. That way her bowels will be more solid. If you keep her on just liquids, she'll poop liquid. Feed her in small amounts every few hours. Try saltine crackers, they love those. If it continues, take her to the ER

It looks like monastaticulosis a rare disease (still rare but more common for infants) I don't want to scare you but it can wind up in death. The reason it can wind up in death is her pH2 level is to high this should be around 76 but for monastaticulosis it needs to be approximately 86.2 it might not be monastaticulosis but get her pH2 level checked by a doctor. BTW it might just be a series of vomiting and diahrea. But get her pH2 level checked iddmedeately!

Why would you say she doesn't seem to be getting better? If she's stopped throwing up she must getting better. If she's breathing OK and doesn't have a high temp those are the most important things. If she's taking fluid and alert your Doc is probably right.
