I was reading a sheet written by a priest to help in the examination of conscience, and on the offense list regarding the first commandment, it listed "playing Dungeons and Dragons and similar games". What is wrong with D&D? I've never played it so I have no concept of it, but I don't really see how a game could detach one from God so thouroughly that one would go to Hell if one hadn't repented it.

I don't know. Seems pretty silly to me. The game itself is not harmful...but I think the problem comes when you begin to take the "spells and powers" seriously...

Then the sin is not playing the game - it's idolatry.

That's a bit of a leap.

That's a good question! The only way to go to hell is if you dont believe Jesus is God's son and you don't except him in your heart as your savior. All those other religions get people confused, which is what the enemy(devil) wants. This way people will doubt God,find Him complicated and be turned away from God. Christianity is not a religion, it is a personal relationship with God and His son Jesus through the Holy Spirit. I dont know whats up with all that religious "Mumbo-Jumbo!" Anyways, Hope this helps. Peace Out! And God Bless!

Some people think that since there are demons and magic in the games that kids will get hooked and go over to the Dark Side. Oh wait, no, that's why they should watch Star Wars.

There is a fear among some Priests that the fact that the game contains references to magic and ancient theologies and fictional theologies that it will tempt people into devil worship or wicca and the like. It may be true, but I've never seen it happen.

D&D is now against the First Commandment? Just cuz it has "gods" and monsters and demons and dragons and stuff? (That's my guess, btw... that somehow D&D supposedly replaces God.) Dude, if that's the case I guess I'm going to hell for being a HUGE "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" & "Angel" fan.

Some people think things D&D that have monsters, wizards, witches etc. Promotes other religons like paganism.

They fear that if kids play them they will turn away from god and sell their soul to the devil or something.

D&D - bad. Makes you fantasize about dragons and things that arent real....

Playing "Left Behind: Eternal Forces" is good - PC game involving converting or killing people left behind after the rapture. Nice, wholesome Christian fun....

I have to assume that D&D is banned because it "promotes witchcraft and dark magic practice."

Which is a buncha crap, of course. As if magic (the way RPG's use it) is real. It's unbelieveable.

It has pagan stuff and magic in it, so they have a problem with it just like Harry Potter

D&D is just an RPG. Maybe they think you'll think you can actually cast magic missile at the darkness.
