I think it's absolutely okay to be "picky". As long as someone knows what to expect in the beginning, all roads are clear to be walked on. One mistake a lot of people who've been through traumatic childhoods make, is having no (or very little) boundaries. In your case, you clearly do. Don't worry about picky. You gotta look out for number one too. As long as he knows what he's getting into, you'll be ok.

Never ever say your standards are too high. Your standards should be high. The guy you were dating moved too fast. Why would you need to lower your standards for him ? Most young guys move too fast and only want one thing. That's just the facts. Keep being picky and soon enough when the time is right you will meet a nice guy who will meet all your standards.

Take one day at a time! You will eventually find someone who will be just right for you. Don't pre-judge someone before you get to know them. Looks are nice but really get to know someone's heart condition their personality. You may be surprised in what you find.

Never drop your standards for anyone. You are who you are. There IS someone out there that can live up to your expectations. Just be patient. If you settle, you'll just be unhappy.
