well, using the wash out color WILL help you do what you want. only problem is you will have to do it more often. it will be a lot better than having to look at roots every day while you grow your hair out! also, the temporary hair color is so much better for your hair, so it will be healthier as well.

ive tried using the wash out color when growing my hair out from a dye job. I think the best way is the tinted shampoos! ARTec makes REALLY great ones and paul mitchel to. I don't know how well that would work depends on what color you died your hair vs. your natural,,, you should try the wash out see if you like it... shouldn't damage your hair... oh yes and the wash outs do fade but i believe that is what you would want since you want your natural color

Why don't you use a permanent color that is the same color or very close to the color of your original hair? That should solve the roots problem, and your hair will eventually grow out and the color will wash out eventually.

I am in the process of doing this right now and honestly I am using the washout kind natural instincts but if you have died your hair blond and it is naturally black I would not recommend this but if it is like mine and you are growing out highlights or your natural color isnt a major difference from the dyed color this will work for you and the non permanent dye is way better for your hair there is no peroxide in it

Use a permanent color the same color as your hair. Washes fade, fairly quickly. A perm color will bring you back to your color and last a lot longer.

If the color you used in the past is permanent then when your hair grows out it will show your natural colors. So basically when you grow it out you will have 2 shades of color....your natural and the color solution.

it really depends on what your natural hair color is and the artificial color you have on it.
You should try to find a hair tint that matches your natural hair color and only tint over the hair that is already colored.
If you're naturally a blonde and tinted it a darker color....you may need to go to a professional to get the artificial color stripped out .
