of the the people who give religious but not overly religious people like me such a bad rap? For instance the Rabbi who simply asked that his holiday be recognized? How would we feel if there were menorahs but no Christmas trees? Or the constant gay bashing,Bible quotes & lectures to the athiests? I think 90% of Christians are like me but it's that 10% that make the rest of us look so bad when alot of us think that being gay is not nor ever will be a sin & Jews have the right to have menorahs up where there are Christmas trees?

Thank you. I could hug you! So there are reasonable Xians on here as well? :)

Maybe it's just that you're not as vocal as that 10%. They're loud, obnoxious, opinionated, and intolerant. You see them a lot. It's very hard to see past them to all the other Xians who are ordinary good people. But it's good to know you are out there.

>> How would we feel if there were menorahs but no Christmas trees?

In a publicly funded airport? ( http://www.portseattle.org/about/ ), I'd be angry.

Here's an idea - considering nobody can play nicely, I say we take everyone's toys away. Nobody gets to put on menorrahs or christmas trees in anything that takes one cent of public money. Deal? Deal.

But I agree with you - the extremists of religion are the ones that ruin it for everyone. Nonetheless, it's the moderates that put up with such a representation - does your god not directly tell you to condemn homosexuals? You should be out on the picket lines right with them - how do you separate what was strongly recommended by your god and what was metaphorical?

It's this point that the rest of us get to use against the moderates, over and over. Your religion makes no sense if it's based on the Bible. You need to ditch the book. Maybe we can then have an actual conversation about the status of same sex marriage, stem cells, abortions, and sending condoms to Africa.

As an atheist, I realize that most Christians are not that judgmental. Many a Christian has helped to understand their views and the way they see life. There are obviously some really great people on here of all faiths. I don't judge a faith or people on the basis of their beliefs. And as an atheist, I enjoy seeing people celebrate their religious holidays. If some one wishes me a Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah I respond in kind. It is my belief that it most important that we respect one another and learn from one another. Religion has made many contributions to society. It appears to have been an intrinsic part of every culture since the beginning of time. So be it. Who am I to force any of my beliefs on anybody? Hope you had a great day!

No.... I'm just tired and sick.

Liberals or moderates are always called wrong either A: because the more fundamentalists are bashing them for being Gay haters, or conspiring with the enemy.

The problem is that the more liberal aren't often willing to stand up for their faith, giving the impression that they don't know what they are talking about. Then again, if they do stand up, they're likely to receive hate mail or negative responses.

Personally, I'm not a Christian. Still, I have no problem standing aside a Christian on certain issues which we agree upon. I hope that you continue to stand up for what you believe, knowing that the hatred will come only from the inconsequential bigots.

In short... "Is anyone else sick and tired of the as[butt]sholes who try to shove their religion down everyone's throats instead of respecting that we all have our own views based on our own experiences and if there was nothing but respect, especially on these holidays which are meant to be about peace on earth and good will towards men, so much so that World War I literally PAUSED on Christmas Day and enemies crawled out of the trenches, shared rations and gifts of supplies, that the world would be a far, far better place! Is anyone else sick and tired of the as[butt]sholes who forget that it is okay to accept a different viewpoint for the sake of discussion and that you can discuss things you don't agree with without becoming disrespectful or vengeful or hatefull?"

Yes. Yes I am. It's good to see I'm not the only one.

The book, the movie, the Jonas Brothers.....ugh. I'm a huge fan of paranormal romance and love sharing my recommendations, but try searching for vampire in the book section. It's all tweens looking for books like Twilight, and does Bella have a pierced bellybutton and what color eyeliner did she wear 12.14 into the movie? It's probably no worse than Harry Potter when the last book came out, but at least I cared about that.

Yeah, I'm tired of it all. Why can't we acknowledge that we are different and believe in different things and be willing celebrate them all because at this time of year, at least, love and peace and hope are the major themes of the holidays. There are so many more important issues that we could be giving attention to.

Case in point - my brother is Catholic (as am I) and once said that he almost felt like people who put out nativity scenes were forcing their Christianity onto others. I said that we might as well outlaw all decorations at that point. I don't want to get to that point.

I am tired of it also. But I have found that the ones that come to the door, if you ask them nicely not to come back and to put a hold on further pushing at the door it stops....Now if you act rude and put them down your probably become a challenge and person that appears to need something....to maturity is a must...

Kinda....being an atheist, it doesnt bother me, as I am not part of that group... But I must admit that I am even more tired of the Christians that then complain that we are "trying to take Jesus out of Christmas!" He never was part of Christmas - it was a pagan tradition that he was put into....

I have long suspected that it is 10% of the world that is causing 90% of the problems. That goes for believers and non-believers.

Deep sighhh
