I don't think children should be given guns. sorry.

but if you think that's okay for your child, than lay down the rules and make him very aware of the punishments if he does not obey.

make sure you show him how to use the gun properly and tell him what to do/who to contact if something goes wrong

make sure he's not going to be scared if he does something wrong, because as the parent if he gets into trouble with it, it's your fault for not talking to him about it properly...

just remember that the way a child acts proves how good/bad of a parent you are.

How long is going to take for shooting at ants to become boring..10 minutes? My brother had a pellet gun growing up and those days ended when a pellet bounced off a tree and into the neighbor's window. Guns of any type in a bored kids hands is just a bad idea period. Perhaps there's a shooting range near you, a paintball facility, or even those plastic laser tag toys you wear and have a gun with. These are much better options; trust me!

To quote one of my favorite movies "he'll shoot his eye out". All joking aside, if you think he is mature enough to use a pellet or soft air gun responsibly and with supervision at age 11 then get him one. Spend time with him teaching him the rules and safety. Do not let him use it alone until you are confident he is responsible and respectful around guns.

Why get him a pellet gun at all? There is no way in hell I would get my kid a pellet gun at 11. I mean do what you want but I would tell my son no.

You'll shoot your eye out kid

I think it all depends on how responsible the child is. If he is a good child, is going to abide by the rules and will be safe, then it's alright. But if he is a little he**un, you may want to wait til he is older.

In CA is 18 years old. But if you think he is old enough because you don't want him to shot animals, or people because they will charge you with it. Assault with a weapon

age does not matter you have to ask yourself if he is mature enough for one. make sure they know when and how to use one and how noy to use one. make sure he is safe with it.
