theyre mainly used to lower blood pressure or get rid of excess water in conditions where you retain water, not really so much weight loss... yeah you might lose a couple pounds since youre going to pee out more but you wont burn fat, you wont look any different, and the weight will come right back as soon as you quit taking them. bad way to diet. some of the over the counter diet pills that cost a fortune have a diuretic in them though to make it look like they actually work. if you want to lose weight eat better and excercise more.

Diuretics reduce the amount of fluid in the body. If you took them you would lose a few pounds in fluid which you would immediately put back on once you stopped them. These tablets can be dangerous if taken in large quantities or for reasons other than for those they are presecribed, they can cause severe dehydration and imbalances in the chemical composition of the blood and body tissues (electrolyte imbalances) which can effect the heart and other organs. They are usually prescribed for conditions like high blood pressure and heart failure. The only way to lose weight is diet and exercise.

You will lose weight, but, you are only losing water, not fat. Nor are you increasing your metabolism. Diuretics are used when there is an indication of pulmonary edema ( water in or around the lungs and heart ) heart disease ( to try to give the heart less to pump ) and extremity swelling.

You just lose water weight and every time you drink without the pills you just replenish the water weight. They are used medically for blood pressure and for water retention.

They are used for unnatural or too much water gain during that time of the month. They will help you lose a few lbs, and then about 1 week later, regardless of taking them still or not, you will gain the wt back.
