The highest paid police will be in the larger cities in the country. I had looked into this about 20 years ago, and at that time, the big, progressive cities were on a kick to hire college educated police. They were paying more, in the hopes of keeping qualified people.
I think California had the most - but I also think it'll cost you the most to live there.

monster.com might help with that research. And of course, a lot of factors come into play with it comes to pay, i.e. benefits, medical and cost of living. A L.A. cop might make say $90,000 and year and a Chicago cop make $80,000, but because the cost of living is cheaper in Chicago, the Chicago copper will be on the higher scale. Don't know if that's what your looking for but there it is.
