Religion is a tool. Just like a car. Used correctly, it can take you and your friends home. Used incorrectly, it can do all sorts of bad things.
It's not the cars fault that some one got ran over. It's the drivers.

Religion is good it is not a matter of serious debate.
Now there are some bad people doing bad things in the name of Religion, they are bad, but Religion itself is not bad.
Read the New Testament and tell me how much you find in there that is good and bad and get back with us!

As long as religions help and care for others, it is providing a needed service in society.
Once it tries to go beyond that mission, and trap people into some belief system, any belief, it is doing evil.

I think that seeking God is good and that the problems arise when you stick a bunch of flawed people together who interpret His Word wrongly. The main problem being that people manage to convince themselves that the end will justify the means and it is just not right. Anyone who is a Christian should know that this is wrong.

It would depend on your definition of religion. Christianity is good, and most would define it as a religion. However, I define it as a relationship with God.
