My sister in law says we should never plug more than 2 strands into one another, but that seems extreme. Who has than many extension cords anyway? What is a safe number and what about them all going into the same outlet? These are inside lights by the way. Thanks for your help!

I saw this on Mythbusters the other day.

They said no more than 10, then tested in on the tree and the tree caught fire.

5 was the one where it didn't catch, so maybe 4 or 5 tops.

I have gone so far as to use 4 strands and have never had any problems. A lot of the new light strands have fuses in the plug so if you do overload your strands you can just change the fuse and unplug one of the strands. Happy Holidays!!

This befell to me too. 0.5 the strand works, the different doesn't and maximum, yet no longer all, of the lighting fixtures fixtures that isn't eliminate darkness from seem burned out. i tried replacing bulbs, replacing fuses and in no way something. and evidently they're stressed to the tree. will we ought to take them off and re-cord a sparkling set of lighting fixtures fixtures to the tree?
