My company rented a bed and breakfast for a Christmas gift to the employees. The only single worker invited a girl he had been dating for a few weeks and now they are married and have a beautiful baby boy! I think he is happy he started a relationship before Christmas (that was two years ago!)

no....start relationships after christmas...and if you have a significant other....dump them right before christmas....that way not only will you not have to buy them anything but when you "decide to take them back" (after new years) they'll have been depressed for a few days and appreciate you that much more.

I hope so. If you find someone you want to spend time with it shouldn't matter what time of year. Life is to short to worry about whether to get a gift or a card.

could be depends how new, how old, to share a special holiday with someone special is better than being alone for the holidays because of the expectations keep it light and have fun
