Four days ago my kitten developed a swollen lip. He seems fine and eats good. Wondering if while wrestling with our other cat he got bit?

It doesn't seem to be getting worse, how long should I wait before a vet visit?

Also, is there anything I can put on it. It's not draining and no puss.

If it's been swollen for four days, I'd suggest calling the vet to see what they think. Describe the symptoms to the receptionist. They may want you to come in right away, but they're likely to tell you to give it another day or two and may suggest something you can do at home. And it never costs anything to call them for advice ;)

I wouldn't wait more than two more days unless the vet recommends it to you. The swelling must be uncomfortable, and that's nearly a week - it might need to be lanced in order to get the swelling back down. It's necessary that a vet be the one to do that, to avoid infection.

Vet visits can be costly, but it always better to err on the side of caution, especially with cats. The fact that your cat is acting normal isn't a very good gauge for how hurt your cat is (cat's tend to keep their emotions very well hiddent, and it takes a lot for them to show signs of pain or illness). If your cat was bitten by your other cat, its possible that he has developed an abcess and should be treated right away.

If you REALLY don't want to take him in to see the vet in person, you can call your local animal hospital and ask the receptionist to speak with a veterinarian to describe the symptoms to him/her.

This is comon in cats, if your kitten is not a stray them it may not be an infection or worse. Use metal bowls specially for water, for some reason plastic and ceramic react with the water and cause this in cats - i have one- it doesn't bother him and it ocasionally happens and stays that way for a few days it doesn't hurt i think b/c he eats well. change his water often

that happened to my kitty; he had gotten a 'rug burn' from playing with a rope like toy. Just be gentle with him and monitor it. If it doesn't go away after 5 days, see your vet. (Unless it changes color, or starts oozing, then see your vet right away.)

It never hurts to call your vet and ask to speak to a technician. They're like nurses and can tell you if and when you need to bring him in.

I'm an expert on cats just ask Lucky. Here's how you serve him uh I mean treat him. Put some Cinnamon on him and leave him on your porch, I'll be there at 4:00. HHAAAA. I kill me! No seriously, pull his lip over his head and induce swallowing.
