Thanks "pastor Billy" for that answer apparently you know me better then I know myself - I was really trying to be friendly about getting some answers but maybe you didnt get to the bottom of my question where it said dont be offended - everyone else seemed to think it was an ok question - funny how the priest was the one to try and call me out - oh well - but you did get it right I am a Christian - a nondemoninational christian, how come you couldnt tell that part - oh well - but thank you for the compliment a "trainined non-catholic" well since I've only been "born again" (I know how Catholics love that term) less then 2 years I guess I'm doing ok
I'll take your advice and seek a new bible study - so I can get it - was that really the best way to put that? maybe we should try to be nicer next time since we really dont know the people on the other end of the line btw - dont just tell me something is in scripture - show me - I'm like the Bereans I will test your word against Gods Word

The Bible records Jesus’ censure of the religious leaders of his day: “Adroitly you set aside the commandment of God in order to retain your tradition. Thus you make the word of God invalid by your tradition.” (Mark 7:6-13) Similarly, the apostle Paul resisted the pressure to assimilate either Greek philosophy or erroneous traditions into his teaching. “Look out,” he cautioned. “Perhaps there may be someone who will carry you off as his prey through the philosophy and empty deception according to the tradition of men.”

“YOU make the word of God invalid by your tradition.” These were the words of no one else but Jesus Christ. Like many people today, the Jews in Jesus’ day faithfully adhered to a complicated pattern of precepts and customs. And like many of today’s clergymen, their religious leaders viewed these traditions as more important than the Bible.

To illustrate: God’s Word specifically commanded that children honor their parents. (Exodus 20:12) This obviously included assisting parents who fell into dire financial straits. However, a Jewish tradition developed that provided a convenient way to evade this Biblical obligation. A selfish individual merely had to pledge that his personal property was later to be donated to the temple, setting the property aside by declaring it “corban.” This word meant “a gift dedicated to God.” Although the Jewish worshiper was evidently free to continue to use this corban for his own personal gain, he could piously deny it to his parents.

Jesus, challenged this and other Jewish ‘sacred traditions,’ saying: “You hypocrites, Isaiah aptly prophesied about you, when he said, ‘This people honors me with their lips, yet their heart is far removed from me. It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach commands of men as doctrines.’”

Can a Christian really regard any religious tradition as being on a par with the Bible? Hardly. No matter how much sentiment or emotion may be tied up with a custom, a Christian’s concern is whether it harmonizes with God’s Word or not.

scripture is higher than tradition
and claimed so by Isaiah and Jesus

interestingly Catholic theologians will sometimes try and say scriptures have only the authority that the church bestows on the scriptures..... but frankly... that is a serious mistake and inconsistent with the scriptures. The scriptures and God words are foundational and authoritative

tradition: Mary forever virgin, was sinless her whole life.

Bible: Mary had sons and daughters after Jesus was born. Mary fulfilled the commandment of purification sacrifice after the birth of Jesus.

tradition: These were cousins and or nephews/nieces of Mary.

The bible is clear and easy to understand,
traditions make God's word invalid, and a mystery.

tradition: Mary and the saints can intersede between God and man.

Bible: only Jesus can go to God in our behalf.

tell me the place the Bible says that the Bible is the sole authority for a Christian. the place does the Bible say we ought to apply “Biblical authority” on my own? on condition that "Jesus and His disciples" did no longer have any New testomony Canon in any know...my God, how contained in the international did the Church get all started and advance??? The Church (i.e., what you're calling "custom" yet what St. Paul calls "the physique of Christ") canonized Scripture. No Church - No Bible - no longer any opposite direction around!! Or, are you attempting to assert that Paul, Mark, Barnabas and Luke ran around on missionary trips with a purple Letter version KJV (Bonded leather-based) of their knapsacks??

Traditions Nullify the word of God ,
Book of Timothy says there is one mediator between Man and God and that is the Lord Jesus , Catholic doctrine claims there is many mediators between man and God ,Mary is equal to God and queen of heaven ,This in itself shows how corrupt the Catholic church is ,and the Mass is one of the most blasphemes things a man can do ,Jesus died once and for all and they continually crucify hm afresh each day millions of time over and over

Tradition is scorned upon by God(Jesus Christ).

Jesus said to the pharisies "Your traditions have made the word of God of no effect."

When people get cuaght up in traditions, they forget the purpose of what they were doing in the first place.

Scripture can be nothing but a written version of tradition.
