This question never fails to amuse me. My dogs run all around the yard, day and night, and never ever step in their poop. Yet, people manage to step in one pile in a huge open space.

You need a hobby.

Hey, yeah rubbing a dogs nose in it is the most ridiculous and counter productive thing you can ever do... your step father sounds like a right prick, no offense... When you rub a dogs nose in its own excretions the only thing you teach that dog is that you are really unhappy with the mess on the floor, or that mess = pain... so the dog will not connect going potty inside with the mess, he will go, see the mess and then run and hide or "look guilty", he may even start trying to hide the mess by going behind the sofa etc.... When training a dog positive reinforcement is required, not brutal bullying... if he wishes to treat a dog like that, then he should never have gotten one... I fell like slapping the sh1t out of him just for being so narrow minded and idiotic... beating up a puppy for doing something so natural! If i were you, and you feel like the puppy is in danger i would contact the spca... even pretend youre a neighbor who heard the puppy crying all the time.... But then again if i was you i would kick that pompous **** in the teeth if he did that! Sorry about your predicament though, its always sad how obtuse some people can be...

You are so right!! My dog runs around our yard at 100 mph and he never steps in poo! He is quite careful about it when we are on walks too. Funny.

I wouldn't be so sure that your dogs don't step in it. In fact, I bet they do but they just don't care. Besides, given their paws are not our shoes, I'm sure the vast majority of it gets wiped off as they walk along the rest of the grass.

Maybe they do and it just doesn't stick to their paws as well as it sticks to the bottom of our shoes!! Also our feet cover more area than their paws do. That might have something to do with it!
