I know how you feel, but it will hurt him more if he finds out that you have been lying to him the whole time, say you're really sorry, and that you just want to be friends, he'll understand.

Tell him you're really glad the two of you got a chance to go out, and you did have a good time, but after giving it a chance you're clear that you don't like him "that way." Then offer to set him up with someone you think he'd hit it off with, if you can.
"When Susie said the two of us should go out, I didn't think we'd be a good romantic match. I don't like to dismiss an opportunity without giving it a chance, though, so I'm glad we did go out once. I had fun hanging out with you, but I still feel like we're not a good match as anything more than friends."
There's really no way around hurting someone's feelings when you have to tell them you don't return their affections, but it's best to be honest and definitive. If you try to spare their feelings by saying something like, "I'm just not interested in dating right now," they're going to think that if they just wait long enough it will happen. And then you'll REALLY hurt their feelings when they realize you've been stringing them along.

Let him know that you were pressured or that you just aren't into him? The best way is to be honest...you know you like him..but as a friend. You can also insist (if you haven't gone out yet) that you pay your own way...buy your own dinner, movie ticket, etc. If it's to a special event, you just have to tell him that although you enjoy his company, you just don't feel that way.

Well If you really don't like him well tell him the truth it should just be a breeze telling him. If you don't want to hurt his feelings then just break up with him and don't tell him anything.

No one can pressure you to do anything you don't want to do. Just be honest and tell the guy that you don't want to pursue a relationship with him at the moment.

If he's sweet, then why not go out with him or just hang out as friends. Maybe you will grow to like him.
