Stages of children's development are the steps that their development naturally takes as they grow.

Cephlacordal - the babies start to develop from head down to toe e.g. they lift their heads and then their back gets stronger then they learn to move about!

Proximadistal - from the centre outwards - instead of being curled up - they open out (hmmmm not sure of a better explanation)

(My spelling of the above is probably wrong - I've spelt them phonetically!)

They start vocalising at about 3 or 4 months - making sounds like ga ga etc!

They start walking from about 9 months upwards

Speech is developed from about 12-15 months upwards - simple words first and then they start to string them together!

They are better at gross motor movements first (large bodily movements)

They then develop fine motor movements (like being able to place small objects in a row, balance blocks on top of each other etc)

Their hand-eye co-ordination gets better the older they become - they start to be able to feed themselves etc!

think of your child hood and life, what are the things you learned to do since birth?each child is an individual and will progress at their own pace.children will learn more if they are stimulated , communicated with and given oppurtunties for learning experiences.
