Mark was written about 40 years after his death, Matthew some 15 years after that, then Luke and John.

Why?

Those would seem like REALLY important things to write down as quickly as possible. So why did they wait so long?

Well, Matthew, Mark, Luke, Paul were a tad busy going around the world preaching the Gospel.

And something that important they would not forget. Just like those of us in this generation who knows exactly where they were on 9/11 or our grandparents who remember where and what they were doing during Pearl Harbor or JFK assassination. It was very vivid to them. Furthermore; they also had the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

These Apostles did not write their letters, epistles, and experiences for our edification, us in the future. They were writing to those in the present and would be aghast that the Bible has been given the status it does by many Christian religions. (Those that say "Bible Alone").

Actually, there were so many of them that were written DURING the public ministry of Yeshua Messiah/JC [pbuh] since He had touched hundreds, even THOUSANDS of people at the time.

They had to include the Gospels of ALL the twelve Apostles, the seventy-two disciples, the people [families of those] who were sick and healed, His Mother Mary, His own siblings, the disciples of John the Baptist, most of the scribes of the Pharisees, and of the Sadducees, the Greek and Roman converts, and on and on...

However, the ones you speak of are the Books that were ULTIMATELY 'PICKED' or chosen to be included in the Bible. The rest were either discarded, burned, altered or even kept HIDDEN from the public eye until today.

You must know that over the years, each of the Sacred Scrolls [from their original forms] had to be REWRITTEN several times over by the later scribes and generations that followed --even many years after the fact-- since there were NO COPIERS or fax machines YET AT THE TIME, and more specifically for the actual distribution of the Scriptures to other "early churches" as the numbers of Believers continued to grow across the land...

Peace be with you.

There were other letters and writings written at the time, but the 4 gospels are the ones chosen to be canonized. The world may never know how many other sermons and teachings Jesus also had that were not accepted by the Council.

Gnostic gospels were made up like 95% of the Bible. Yet, they were clever in telling the story 4 times, 4 different ways. This was to make the reader assume there really was a Crucifix but, seen from different angles. Don't forget the 2 Gnostics gospels the early Catholic church removed. Including the Book of Mary.

Yes, I wonder why they did'nt write those REALLY important events down while they were breaking news?
Why did'nt those criminals, during thier 3 1/2 year trial, while:
Being chased from town to town,
While they were trying to run him off a cliff in his home town,
The government was hunting him down, trying to kill him, and any followers,
He had no place to lay his head, nor a pot to piss in, nor a window to throw it out of, so I don"t think he could scratch up some coin for paper,
Leading up to the Crucifixion, they dropped into a wedding in Cana, then he was on his way to be hung.
And I don't why they would'nt pick up some paper, like we would pick up a camera, on thier way to watch thier beloved die in excruciating agony.
And why did'nt that darn Mary, not sit down, at the foot of the cross (While the Apostles were cowering in the shadows) and write it all down?
I imagine when they got a breather, they did just so. Yes Indeed!
Hind sight is 20 - 20.
Hee he he

the first part of the written note that God presented became the former testomony. The writing of the former testomony became started in the 365 days 1447 B.C. at the same time as God gave Israel the ten commandments inclusive of many different regulations. at the same time, interior of this covenant or regulation e book, He wrote many truths proper to creation, the front of sin into the international, and the flood of Noah’s day, as well as many instructions that emphasised mankind’s want for the Savior. God persisted to write down the former testomony till the 365 days 391 B.C. although, God wrote the former testomony in this manner of way that a huge type of truths and counsel protected in the writing of the former testomony were actually dimly printed to mankind. as well to, because the printing press became no longer invented till centuries after the former testomony became written, really copies of the first part of the Bible were rather a lot nonexistent. Early on, very few copies of the first part of the Bible were accessible. the 2d part of the covenant, known because the recent testomony, began to be written by using God about a.D. 33. It became done about a.D. ninety 5. It presented an excellent quantity of truth that helped to make the former testomony extremely more desirable comprehensible. it is specifically because the recent testomony gave a lot counsel about Jesus Christ the Savior, as He actually and fairly experienced the wrath of God on behalf of all of those He planned to keep. even with the truth that, the recent testomony, like the former testomony, became written by using God in this manner of way that many truths set forth in it remained hidden from the authentic believers of the church age.*

First, They didn't have paper or ink or pincles, nothing of the kind. Research it! Handed down mouth by mouth. If you look at letters and there symbols for what we have today it gives total different meaning. How many bibles do you think was written after A.D (Anno Domini)? Check the link below thats your timeline. Do becareful learning to a christian is a sin but a sin I invite.

I have to add this. Theirs is no way on earth to account for what we have as bibles to be anywhere near as correct! Impossible, Cathlics was killing everything in sight to push the power of the Pope-who by the way is standing for Christ return. Somthing else somthing in deed.

The apostles wanted to record some of what they knew, first hand, as eye witnesses to Christ, before they died (or before they were executed).

Jesus told them to go out, to teach, and to baptize. He never told them to write anything, so their primary job was establishing the brand new church. The writing would have to wait until later.

Most teaching was done in those days by word of mouth, and not by the written word, as we tend to think today.

Most importantly, the work did get done .... and it was done well.

It also held up to close scrutiny by people who were still alive and who knew Jesus, Mary, the apostes, and many of the other disciples, and who knew exactly what happened, and when.

What has been handed down to us is an accurate account of what really happened in those days, even if it is far from complete, and even if it varies slightly, in a few insignificant ways.

John was probably written during the same time. He was the youngest of the disciples and if you read the Gospel of John compared to his later writings, you will see his maturity level change just in how he wrote.

The Gospels are an accounting of our Lords life on Earth and his Resurrection. They took a while because the Saints that wrote them had to do so by hand (no presses back them) and any manuscript took forever to write.

Plus look at the conditions the Saints lived in when the wrote them. Talk about having it rough.
