1. It's not their fault! They have no bearing on the Bible. The Bible would have been written with or without Christians.
2. The Bible was written before Christianity.
3. Most people believe in The Bible, not just Christians. Jews believe, Samaritans, Jehovah's' Witnesses...wanna be against them, too?
4. I am friends with some Atheists. I worship God. Does that make me Atheist?
5. God loves us all, even if you are Atheist; why not love him back? He gave you your own mind to think whatever you want.
6. God may have called you abominable fools, but isn't that the same thing as someone calling you stupid, then someone [else] calling you monstrous?
God may hate your behavior, but he will never hate you. Respect him and you will go to Heaven someday ;)

Fear is an emotion and emotionally you are raising a respectful question.
Not saying i back the line, but there is no valor in comparing yourself to worshippers and if you are free from that sin, then i applaud your need for an answer to why religions don't get along but be done with the foolish need for confrontation about some line about a guy or fool in some words from some book written by one guy... these guys were all about doing nothing and no wrong could come of it get on with your life...

First of all the word of God called you that. So you have an issue with God which is the original problem. Second, God allows you not to believe in Him as your own personal choice and HE respects and LOVES you even if you don't believe in HIM. Third, I would go seek God through HIS Word the Bible and find God as shown in Romans 1 which God repeats the same thing. LASTLY, look at the last part of the verse, there is none that does good, means that there is no one good person and that is even Christians. We are the only faith who proclaims our goodness is not our own but through the sacrificial death, burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ as access to a permanent relationship with God. After your death, you will have no do overs so with Love I ask you to seek God while he may be found by you.

Respect must be earned, we must accept each other for who we are. Many Christians are good and loving people who help others and are deserving of respect. Others are so wound up it being what they think Christianity is supposed to be that they forget what it really is. However, atheists, pagans etc. can all be deserving of respect or not depending on how they treat others.

You should respect all people, regardless of their religious affiliation, or what book they follow, based on their actions, not what their book says.
If a 'christian' actually performs actions of disrespect towards you, then they have shown themselves as being unworthy of respect themselves. It doesn't matter whether or not their book justifies it.
If you perform actions of disrespect towards a Christian with no cause other than 'their book says I'm a fool', then that would be pretty strong evidence indicating that you yourself are unworthy of respect.
Respect everyone until they give real evidence otherwise.

Already 24 answers. But let me weigh in any way. The Bible is One of the oldest books known. Put the shoe on the other foot. Why should we as Christinas respect those that impose their lack of belief and lack of faith on those of who believe? You mock us and demand that we remove our nativity scenes from parks and yet you celebrate what "CHRISTmas." Strikes most of us as hipocritical. What's to respect there? At least our basic belief system helped to creat society. It is from our beliefs that your basic social contracts are founded. It is our belief system that helped to found the strongest nation on the face of God's green earth.
That you should choose not to believe is purely upon you. But please, the First Ammendment says "Freedom of religion." Not freedom FROM religion. When all has come to an end and we lay in our graves, we can at least go there knowing that we contributed to something greater than ourselves. Not to mention what the Bible says about those who truly believed.
A man has to believe in something greater than himself. I suspect that you are like a boat without a rudder, keel or compass. You will just flounder your way through life, tossed about by whatever wave or fad blows your way. Sad.

Why would you base your respect or lack of for someone based on something you do not believe in? Why do you read the Bible if you believe it to be false? It's like not respecting Wiccans because you saw something you did not like in the book Harry Potter? You guys need to make up your minds are you believers or not if not stop researching what you do not believe in. I do not believe in Pappa Smurf so i do not research him or any theories that he may be real. I do not believe in X-Men so I do not go searching for Mutants.....

I respect most Christians, just as I respect most people. Some gain or lose my respect after I get to know them.
Christianity deserves no default respect. It is a set of beliefs, just like any other set of beliefs. I respect people's right to hold such beliefs, but I don't have to respect the beliefs, themselves.
There is a bias in this country to respect religions. You can criticize any other beliefs, but say anything critical of religion and you're ostracized.

Where Reason advances, Faith flees -Martin Luther
You shouldn't respect them..anyone who tells you the Bible is not to be taken literally is picking and choosing what they want..but if its the Word of God, aren't you bound by the whole thing?
At least the fundamentalist have the courage of their convictions.
blasphemers - get stoned to death
adulterers - stoned to death
diobedient children - stoned to death
idolators - well, you see the pattern
And yes it applies to Judaism and Islam as well.

So the book you have no beliefs in- you are worried about what it calls you. Well you know the wizard of oz has a witch flying aroung on a broomstick, does that mean all withches fly around on broom sticks? Do you think you are a fool? Or are you just uncertain? Wanting to know something makes you smart, not wanting to learn makes you foolish.
