weight and smoking. I can lose weight and I can quit smoking

2006-12-12 07:16:08 · answer #1 · answered by Stephen R 3 · 0 0

Losing twenty pounds, becoming a low-fat vegetarian, and running twenty to thirty miles a week has does wonders for my lipid levels. My doctor is very pleased with my cholesterol numbers. My LDLs are really low and my HDLs are really high, because I exercise, eat right, and keep my weight down.

I wasn't all that heavy to begin with, but what I did made a huge difference. I'm 5' 8" and I weighed 160. Now I'm 140 and I keep moving. My doctor tells me to keep it up.

Every little bit helps a lot.

Is this an essay question? I've already had enough of those for finals week. However, weight and smoking are two controllable risks.

Fatty foods. - Can't help it sometimes.
Drinking. - I do sometimes. Maybe a lil more than I should.

Uncontrollable factors:
Seconhand smoke - It's like it can't be avoided.
Air, lead, toxic pollution/poisoning - You can't avoid these unless we all start walking around like we're in Japan or China, wearing masks.

Affect me?? Not anything I can think of. Affect people I know.... Living a sedentary lifestyle and smoking.
