Shih Tzu. Our dog doesn't shed and she has a great personality.
The dog across the street is a poodle and barks so much!! Our shih tzu will start to bark if she hears the other one barking but only then. We're training her to ignore the poodle's barking and she beginning to understand only the poodle can be the street's noise maker!!

Toy poodle. My grandmother raises poodles and shih tzus and pickappos. The poodles are much better behaved and cuter than all of them. They all yap and make a lot of noise though. Oh and poodles don't shed. Major positive point there.

poodles are much smarter and don't shed. So I would choose a poodle even though shih tzu's are obviously much cuter. However sometimes poodles can be too smart. Quite often my toy poodle mix outsmarts me.

I would say Shih Tzu because they have a better temperment and i have owned both.

shi tzu...poodles are just nasty...and besides it's fun to say shi tzu 3 times quickly
