They have to write it objectively since not everyone in the world is Christian and might not be looking for information about Jesus from a religious point of view. The job of the encyclopaedia is to provide secular information, not religious doctrine.
It states what Christians typically believe which, from some peoples' perspective, is the only fact - not that he IS the son of God but that Christians typically believe that to be so.

It doesn't annoy me. No one who is not a Christian is going to write, "Jesus is the Son of God" in a definition. It satisfies me that the definition says, "Christians typically believe that Jesus is the Son of God." Except I might take out the word typically. I question whether it is possible to actually be a Christian without believing that Jesus is the Son of God. I like that the Wikipedia definition says IS instead of WAS. Christians believe that Jesus lives eternally, so using the past tense would not be appropriate. He was, is, and will be the Son of God.

If this annoys you then you are not very secure in your faith. It is not everyone's opinion that He is the son of God. That is the Christian opinion. Unless this encyclopedia was a Christian encyclopedia, then they hit the nail on the head with their description. This would annoy you if you have doubts, not if you strong in your faith. Not to mention it is not fact. Facts can be proven with empirical evidence of some kind of another. Jesus' story may be a truth, but it is by no means a fact. Just wondering, but what does it say when you look up Mohammad, or The Buddha? Thanks and have a nice day.

Not in the least.
Every individual has to accept Jesus as the Son of God for themselves, the Government is not going to force it on anyone.
So I would say that definition is accurate from a secular point of view.
It does not shake my faith. I would not ever want to live under ANY Religious Theocracy. Like Iran, even if it were a Christian one.
One more thing, if you are not a Christian, then Jesus was "Just another guy" to you!
Peace!

One of the core beliefs of Christianity is that it is founded on factual evidence of Jesus. It's understandable that an Encyclopaedia would only present the undisputable evidence (that Jesus lived). An Encyclopaedia's job is only to present these facts. It'd be nice if it did, but that's not the society we live in (separation of church and EVERYTHING).

No, it doesn't really bother me.
I realize everyone does not see that as fact.
They stated that Christians believe Jesus to be the Son of God, and that is true.
A book written by a Christian author would state that as a fact, but I can see how a reference book would not.
No biggie to me.
I know the truth.

Christ, therefore, is a revealed Hebrew Flesh, as a pure Human.
His realm is as far as anyone who ever lived, that makes that God made Christ both HebrewFlesh and Son of God. The real Jesus makes himself the Son of God, the Son of the Holy Ghost. That is to say that God, Christ and everyone else are our relatives somehow. yes we're all related, through Shem Japheth and Ham. Shem was that ancestor of all Hebrews, Japheth ancestor of Gentiles and Ham was original peoples. I think.

ABSOLUTELY !!!! But we have to respect others beliefs too. If they were to say for a fact that Jesus is the son of God as .... WE CHRISTIANS KNOW TO BE A FACT............other religions would be irate if their "GOD" weren't written to be as the one and only "GOD". As long as WE know , it doesn't matter what it says in ANY book. We go by our Bible. That is the only Book that matters when it comes to God and our Lord and Savior JESUS CHRIST !! If it isn't in the Bible....then it isn't true. I feel so sorry for the lost souls out there that haven't yet found Christ. All we can do is pray for them. I hope this helps. GBU

Why? We live in a country that is founded on allowing people to believe as they choose. And not even all Christians agree. Even though we have the correct answer about the reality of Jesus Christ, we are also Americans who willingly defend our constitution.

It is a secular website describing the beliefs of a group of people. Written any other way it would be endorsing a religion rather than simply providing information.
