i would think he's crazy. seeing as though my boyfriend and i have been going out for that long, unless it was for work or family, there would be no way in hell he would be leaving.

especially if that was something out of his nature. i'd ask a lot of questions.

Depends on why he/she is going away. Army deployment? Some things happen suddenly. College bound -- this was planned and I think you were dumped. Job transfer -- have to move to keep the job and this could be sudden if the boss is reorganizing.

Look at it this way, there is a saying that says "absence makes the heart grow fonder". If you two are meant for each other, then time and distance are meaningless. Read in the Bible I Corinthians 13 "The Love Chapter". Love is patient and kind and doesn't seek its own way at the expense of others. This love is such that you would gladly give your life to save the life of the other. If this is the kind of love you two have, then there is nothing that will keep you apart for very long. Be patient and wait for things to work out.

If you don't have this kind of love, find someone else who does who will be the one for you.

I would be pissed off and I would do the same thing back to him except I wouldn't even tell him when I go out of town, I would just go. And if we continued to be like that w/ each other, I would consider possibly going different ways.

Goes away where?

I've never even had a "boyfriend" this long... without him becoming a "husband". And then they kinda tell you ahead of time if they're planning to go out of town.

Mine went to FL -from NC- one weekend and called on the way back to see what I was up to and let me know he was on his way back and did i want anything. So one days notice he just got busy and may have had other things to worry about at least you found out.

they were too scared to tell you early because you would question and bug them about it so doing right before sorta leaves you speechless so now he has time to figure out a lie and you have time now to figure it out also

I would think that I obviously mean nothing to them and have no relevance in their lives.
