Can faith justify devoting your life to other gods? Or to eating only green jello? Or can faith, which justifies teaching your ideas to children, telling other people they are sinners and how to live their lives, and even push for legislation to do so, justify the holy act of purchasing air time on Saturday morning to run adds explaining that Santa isn't real? Faith is the bottom line for most people, not fairness or benevolence. Do you consider faith the bottom line even if someone's faith disagrees with yours?

Everyone has a right to believe what they choose. My faith is not based on anything you described, but let me ask you should faith be the bottom line for the lady who will sleep under a bridge tonight, knowing that if she prays someone will feed or bring her a warm blanket? Should faith be the bottom line for the mother that doctors have told her they have put her child in the hands of God because there is nothing else they can do, so she and her family pray?

Should faith be the bottom line for the women who has been told that she will never conceive a child yet she prays that God will heal her body and bless her with a baby(I was this woman and I have two children because of that faith)? Should faith be enough to the mother and farther who have prayed all night that God will answer them that they may be blessed with employment to feed their five children because the refrigerator is empty?

Should faith be enough for those of us who believe that if we continue to believe in God and hold strong to his promise and love all others in spite of the way they treat us, and trust in him with all of our hearts that our existence here is more than just the pain torment or hell that some of us have been through? Death is not the sad thing the sad thing is to live a life without purpose, and I can not speak for everyone else but, God and his never changing love gives me that purpose!

Faith is necessary for any belief: religious, scientific, whatever ya like. Truth is also an extremely important factor...that's pretty reasonable: your faith has to be true. Truth in accordance with humanity has to do with contentment in life, which has to do with following the conscience, which is not always easy. Luckily, God had people write the bible so we can more clearly look at exactly what our conscience is telling us to do. Not only that, but deciding to follow your conscience grants perfect love from the creator of matter, life, and morality.

Faith can justify many things, but it should never be blind. If one does not question their faith and the consequences following it may bring then it becomes nothing more than an excuse or a burden. It ceases to be the joy and strength that it should be.

When one devotes their life to God it means that they will serve all in need in whatever way God sees fit to use them. I'm confused as to why you make it sound like a bad thing. I can assure you that all who claim to serve the Lord are not really doing it. As to other peoples religion I don't know anything about it. Just my own religion or lack there of. I'll claim spiritualism but not religion. Religion is about ritual and dogma and I'm about seeking God in my own spirit.
You must have already realised that I wasn't always a believer and I changed. Where before I was quick to judge others. I would often think things like at least I don't blah blah like she does. Or I wish I were more like her she is so blah blah. Now I see people differently and make God my yardstick which I am always the lacking one. And like if I see someone who is doing something blatantly wrong I am more likely to think but for the Grace of God go I. As to campagning against Santa I believe it would be much more beneficial to their cause to try and get the story of St. Nicholas out there. I think it is up to parents to decide weather they want to lie about the good old elf or not. I lied to mine but changed things to suit my situation. I explained that Santa was merely a Christmas present delivery man and that I paid for their presents and that was why they didn't get as much as the rich kids. I told them how the tradition of presents started and about St. Nicholas eventually.
Faith is important but I believe it is equally important for others not to insist everyone believe as they do. I some weren't so insistant and nasty with their own message of good news people might be more open to the real good news that God loves each of us personally and wants us to spend time with Him ect..
Any way I'd like to give people the gift of peace and hope but only if they want it as that is what God does.
By the way what the bible says about faith and justification is by our faith we are justified. It is in believing in God's love and forgiveness and trusting Him that we are saved would be another way of saying it.
Nothing justifies people being cruel and argumentitive.

Faith is one part of a person's belief system. The belief system, as a whole, is what causes folks to devote themselves to God. For example I believe that God is real, that God forgives our sins, and calls us to live a life pleasing to him, and calls us to help fellow man. There are religious extremists who do wacky things to "convert" or "convict" people in their religion, but by and large, us Christian believers are open-armed, open-minded, and approach others with open hearts.

if people want to believe in god that's fine im happy with that what i don't like is people trying to push me to believe in something. i was giving the chose as a child to believe in god and religion etc and i chose not too. i believe people should have the chose and not to feel pressured in to it.
