It is caused by a mismatch of vestibular and visual sensations. Meaning you are seeing movement and not having the corresponding physical sensations or vice versa.

Not everyone is susceptible to motion sickness. Children younger than 2 years of age are rarely affected, but susceptibility rapidly increases with age, peaking between 4 and 10 years, then gradually declining. Females tend to be more susceptible than males, regardless of age. Recent ingestion of food, particularly dairy products and foods high in sodium, protein, or calories, has been associated with increased susceptibility. Use of oral contraceptives also enhances susceptibility, and women are especially vulnerable during menses or pregnancy . Anxiety and preexposure tendency to facial flushing or nausea correlate with subsequent motion sickness.

It can be prevented by taking an over the counter antihistamine such as Dramamine or a prescription drug of a different make up.

It is caused by the brain registering movement from your inner ear, which is not detected by the eye.

If you're sailing, for example, and you're looking at what's inside the boat...Your eyes register that nothing is moving, because the inside of the ship is moving just like you are. But your inner ear registers the movement, and your brain doesn't like the difference between these two things. If you look at the horizon, though, the motion sickness will go away.

There are over-the-counter drugs called anti-emetics. Your pharmacist can help you find them...These completely disconnect you from the nausea feeling...Your brain will still have a problem, but it won't make you ill.

It is caused by when an organ in your ear (dont really know the name of of it) moves or get irritated, it sends a message up your brain and causes other muscles to tense up including your stomach. Its kind of like a physical stress. It can be preventd by relaxing or resting. Theres really no reason why some people suffer from it. Thats just the way they are.
