get to your vet pronto. it sounds like he may have a urinary tract infection, fairly common in cats. the vet will test his urine and if infection is present give you antibiotics to resolve the problem.

Is this a new behavior? He might have a urinary infection. Does he urinate frequently? In small amounts? Have you ever seen blood in his urine? Does urinating seem to be painful? You should probably take him to a vet to make sure. If there isn't a physical problem, then the person that suggested locking him in a small room with the litter box is right on. He may have just recently picked up a bad habbit and needs to be reminded of his litter training.

Male cats spray regardless of their knowledge of the litter box. If you have a boy, I'd get him neutered as soon as you can - the longer you wait, the more he's apt to continue spraying. Cats are extremely territorial, males way more so than females.

what i find works best to stop your cats from doing "accidents" is to make a solution of water and anything citric like lemons and oranges. the smell repulses them. spray this where you don't want them to urinate but make sure u don't spray near the litter box as this will make them find else where besides where they should do their business. this also works on favourite flower beds etc especially neighbours cats. Please don't use ammonia in sprays since cats urine is ammonia it will only spray more thinking another cat has tried to take their territory. don't pay for nothing fancy for this spray a water sprayer and squeezing of a few citrus fruits will work just as good as forking out for expensive sprays from a pet shop. advantage of this your home will smell sweet of fruit. if necessary place cat nip in pots or food bowls near to areas where they urinate they wont want to spoil their fave treats

My little one started to do it and I rubbed her nose in it a few times, said a firm NO and plopped her in her litter tray! It worked for mine! Good luck!

Spray amonia on the places he uses the bathroom at. This will also prevent him spraying later on when he older.
