very safe - there are many pain killers that you can use for arthritis but if Tylenol works for you - it is very safe. The major issue is not to drink more than 2 or 3 glasses of wine or beer a day other wise it can damage your liver.
Many other pain medication are hard on the stomach and can cause you to have an ulcer.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is very safe when used properly, key word being properly. Acetaminophen is actually the first line recommendation for arthritis. Follow the directions on your package and do not take more than the maximum recommended dose. Taking more than directed can cause serious liver problems. If you have any questions talk to your physician or pharmacist.

what no body is telling you is that if you exceed more than 3 grams of Tylenol you face overdose. Tylenol overdose is one of the worst kinds of overdose situations seen in the Emergency room. I would not use Tylenol for an arthritis medication except as an "as needed" pain supplement. With drugs like zantac and prilosec and the newer arthritis medications such as celebrex bextra...you are much safer with one of them or a narcotic.

It is safer than any other medication out there. It is easy on the stomach, and many other meds are extremely hard on the stomach, and can cause bleeding ulcers. I speak from experience, as I had one from taking too much aspirin. The only problem with Tylenol, is that the active ingredient, acetaminophen, can be hard on the liver if taken with alcohol.
