Pray this prayer, submit in your heart and ask for guidance.
"Lord Jesus, come into my heart and forgive me of my sins. I know that I am a sinner, and I repent of my sins. Wash me in Your blood, and make me clean. I have sinned against heaven and before You and am not worthy to be called a son. I receive You by faith as my Savior."

Interesting points.
I can't honestly answer the real question, because I have no idea what Jen emailed to you (or who Jen is even)
The Bible speaks of God being the loving father you somewhat dsescribe in your question, but also as a judge in the end - calling everything to account for itself.
Your observation of the 'incredible amount of suffering and injustice' - is that your own research or 'Universal Suffering' researched and prepared by someone else?
I've notice much of it myself, but can't help but arrive at a different conclusion - injustice is caused by humans, not by an external force.
Althought I can't possibly claim to know if the 'big tough guy' is going to get heavy with you (as you so eloquently put it :p) but I do know that even here on earth, eventually a creation has to answer to the creator.
Interpret that as you will, and I know, this opens a can of worms to a million debates; There never is a problem (in my mind anyway) with truly researching a preprogrammed 'belief' to examine the validity - ergo an honest debate is never something to be afraid of.
It's unfortunate that some 'Christians' believe they know what is best and take it upon themselves to belittle the 'pagan' unbelievers.
Myself? I believe in God, because my research and personal experiences have provided more than enough evidence.
Hope that offers some insight, in any case.

I respect you're freedom of speech and religion. But I do have to say that the God that I believe- Jen is referring to, Is the same God that I believe in. And i don't think that you have offended him or that you a mere mortal- could. I do believe that he is a forgiving God, but only when you ask to be forgiven. I don't think you believe you need or care to be forgiven. So, why do you care what some one else believes??? Or says for that matter. When you answer or ask a ? here, you have to know that you will get all kinds of peoples, beliefs and responses. If you don't want feed back, don't ask or respond to the questions.
She has the same rights of freedom as you and me. and that my friend, is why I am proud to be an American!!! God Bless

My expensive Jeff, out of appreciate, i'd under no circumstances label individuals of alternative faiths "deluded". in my view, an excellent type of the time human beings keep on with the religion of their kin and ancestors. personally, i have self belief Jesus Christ is the son of God. Please keep in innovations, i became born right into a very Christian kin. My ancestors from each aspect were Christian. Case and element? How tragic it really is that persons won't be able to worship the way they want and chorus from judgment of others with different idea's. This concern has led to misery previous comprehension because the starting up of recorded historic previous. As continuously, I say, peace and love is the reply ((Jeff))

You hit the nail right on the head: You should be careful what you say about their god, because it is a petty mini god with a personality disorder. Anyone who's objectively read Genesis or Leviticus knows that.

I never disclose my e-mail exactly for the reason above. I don't enjoy this sort of correspondence in my mailbox. And Philosophy is a much sounder category to post such questions. At least people don't get so upset about any opinion that does not confirm theirs. Peace!

Never allow anyone to get in your head with indirect threats even christians. Feel good about your self and jump off the fence-choose your side, (blind faith or not). Religion has been built on fear at the begining, It was a bloody mess at one time. Look at the mid east today. It's your mind it belongs to no one else so think as you choose. Best way to handle religous people, stand your ground and be firm, they do.

I get emails from people all the time (typically Christians) who inform me that I'm going to Hell, or I haven't read the Bible carefully enough, or that I'm just flat wrong because "I want to keep sinning." It's annoying.
As for your question about a god: if there were a god in existence, I don't see how it could possibly care what you think (no offense intended; I doubt it cares what I think either).

There is a silence in place now. More than likely, someone like yourself did the blathering who thinks they speak for God. Everyone, personally, is addressed. Not much later.

The debate on Yahoo Answers between the religious, esp the Christians, and the secular is pretty rambunctious, and often borders on the offensive and abusive (from both sides).
Laugh it off (as you clearly have).
