So, I was thinking of piercing the right side of my lip, but when speaking to my brother's girlfriend about doing so, she said there are a lot of nerves in this part of the mouth area, and could end up paralysing part of my face. I'm not sure whether this is true, so if anyone could shed some light, I'd really appreciate it.
I am aware of the dangers of self piercings (e.g. infection etc). I've pierced the center of my lip before, and everything was great! :]

Doing your own lip piercing can be risky. It doesn't cost that much to have it done by a professional.

Do some research in medical books to find out where the nerves are. Since you know the dangers of piercings I won't go into that. Just be careful. There are a lot of dangers with piercing your lips, ear cartilage and eye brows if you do them yourself. All i can say is to do some research. Good Luck and remember what you do to yourself now may not be what you want later so don't put too many wholes in you that you won't be able to cover up in the future.

My sister pierced her lip herself and i know a couple of other people who did the same thing and none of them have had paralyzed faces. Its just a little risk you would take.

Veins and nerves.
I'm a professional piercer, I don't condone self piercing unless you are trained and qualified. I know about anatomy and there is more to it than not hitting veins or nerves...

there arent nerves that can paralyze your face. thats just an urba legend......please get it done by the professionals.... you could screw something up pretty bad. piercicng you lip once doesnt mean somethign can still go wrong or will go wrong with pierceing your own lip again..........................please get it done by a professional
