I am in the National guard now. 3 years from now I am going to graduate from ROTC. Then I will have 3 more years (active) and then 2 inactive to serve with the National Guards.

After I get comissioned at a 2LT, do I need to serve any additional years for ROTC, or can I just finish up my original contract and be done?

Acceptance of a ROTC commission obligates you to six years of service. Typically it is 4 years active duty and 2 years reserves, but may vary. If you attend some schools in the military, there may be additional obligations.

How your guard service affects this, I don't know.

Part of the answer depends on if you are on a ROTC scholarship. If you are on a scholarship then the duty obligation should have been told to you when you signed. If you are not on a scholarship then the amount of duty may vary depending on if you stay Guard or go active duty. In general terms you will be looking at 3-4 years either on active duty or drilling with a unit and a couple of years inactive reserve time after that. Accepting the commission will ecilpse your enlisted contract.

Stay in. One of these days you'll turn around and have 20 years under your belt and a nice retirement to look forward to.

Your second answer is correct 4. My husband was in ROTC during college and had to do at least 4 years. He did his active duty.
