Everytime I make them my krispies come out like almost stale. How do you make them and keep the krispies crisp? Thanks

You are probably using too much butter. Happens to me sometimes too. Use the least amount of butter possible, or, even better, melt your marshmallows in the microwave for a few seconds. Then just stir in your cereal. I often put them in the freeze a bit to cool them quicker as I want them right away, but you can just put them in the fridge.

A trick I learned about Rice Krispy treats (on martha stewart even) is that you have to really smash them down hard. Once you mix it all and dump it in a pan, cover with pam sprayed foil and use a 2nd pan to smash them hard. This way the rice is all tight instead of loose and dry. I think that this makes the flavor better, kind of moister, less stale tasting.

I use this recipe and it always turns out every time

3 tablespoons of margarine
1 bag of marshmallows
6 cups of rice krispies

make sure that you melt the butter all the way on the stove before you add the marshmallows.

keep the heat always on low, so you can keep the moisture in and avoid burning

then after all of the marshmallows are completely melted, then add the rice krispies, but fold the marshmallow sauce onto the krispies, dont stir them, but make sure it covers it all.

Good Luck and i hope this works for ya!

As others have said (except praise seitan, who is incorrect), gelatin is NOT vegetarian. It's made from the bones, skin and connective tissue of animals and is not a part of either a vegetarian or vegan diet. Which means that Rice Krispy Treats aren't vegetarian. You can make your own with Rice Mellow Creme, though. It's a vegetarian "marshmallow" fluff made from brown rice syrup. It tastes just as good. :)

Either you're using too much butter, or your cereal isn't fresh...
