I've never been to this doctor before and never talked to anyone about my anxiety problems. I don't know what to say to him and I'm scared I'll chicken out out of fear that he won't believe me or think I'm being silly. What do I do?!?!

Frankly, you should not b scared of the doc. And you are not silly at all! The doc is here to help you and you should trust him, dear. Tell him all you think he should know and answer his questions in a most honest way. It is just then that he can help you genuinely. Don't chicken out, not at all. You should rather be glad as your anxiety is perhaps about to come to an end.

Think of all the things you will b able to do! Voice out your opinion publicly, wear a sexy outfit and while boys stare at you, you remain perfect and not freaked out! ;)

So dont worry, go to the doc, dont fear. And be honest with him in answering his questions. And also, trust him. See ya around ;)

He will believe you and he will not think you are being silly, and if he does, then he is a quack. Anxiety is a major issue facing many people today. The good thing is that anxiety is very treatable with a little help from the right people. I would suggest asking about a psychiatrist and a therapist. A tip on psychiatrists though, if they don't seem genuinely concerned with helping you and they just tell you what to take and send you on your way, then they are not for you. Trust me, I have had many of them and they are by no means all good. It is suppose to be a team effort between you and your doctor and/or therapist. They are not all knowing about what is going on with you and your life, don't be afraid to question them about, well, everything. Don't blindly follow whatever they tell you to do. You are in charge of your life, they are just there to try and help you along. Cocky, detached, rushed, impersonal psychiatrists are a no-no. These are lessons that I have learned the hard way. I am bipolar ergo the advice I offer is from first-hand experience, not just what I have heard. Take care of yourself and I hope that everything works out, Jack of Hearts

Lots and lots of people suffer with various degrees of anxiety and panic attacks. I used to have severe panic attacks and generalized anxiety disorder. I heard about a program put out by the Midwest Center for Anxiety and Depression. I ordered it and followed the 10-week course at home. I finished about 10 months ago and have been fine ever since with not even one panic attack. I still get anxious sometimes, but I can control it now. I would suggest that program to you as it's something that you can do on your own. Look them up online. The lady who designed the program is Lucinda Bassett, and she had severe anxiety too. Check it out!

Unless he's a pretty incompetent doctor he should believe you. Believe me, he's heard it all before. You're almost 100% not the first person he's heard this from. Many people suffer anxiety attacks. And in the last few years it has really come out of the closet.
If he doesn't believe you, find another doctor.

Just be honest with your doctor. DO NOT chicken out. Go and get the help you need. He will ask questions just to get to know you and to get a better understanding of what is going on. I know this is easier said than done, relax. Pat yourself on the back for having the courage to get help.

DO NOT chicken out!! He's there to help..and the more information you give him, the better he'll be able to treat you. Remember it wont go away on it's own. You need help, and it's good that you're going to get it! Just make sure to say everything. If you think you're going to forget...write it down and then tell him thr that! goodluck

Well, sounds like your anxiety is making you anxious about talking to the doctor. If the doctor is a psychiatrist, he won't thing your silly and he will believe you. If you doctor is a general practitioner, he should be professional enough to help you or refer you to someone who can. Please go to the appointment and tell him exactly how you feel. If you don't you haven't helped yourself one bit. Good luck!
