I feel the same, so dont feel alone. I am a Christian, but I do not attend church for that reason. The Bible says that you do not have to attend church to be a Christian, so I dont bother.

I am a believer and I know what you mean. Some mean things go on in church and I cannot explain why. Why would anyone want to be a part of this? I understand your question completely! All I can say is believing in God isn't about going to church. It's about knowing and living for God-so it's all in your heart-not in the church. It's a pity so man Christians give other Christians a bad rep.

How can we unravel this paradox? How can the church be both sin-ridden and salt and light? How can the church be both a source of disillusionment and a source of illumination at the same time? The answer, as found in the Bible, is this: What we call "the church" is really two churches! One is selfish, power-hungry, and sinful. The other is loving, forgiving, and godly. One has a long history of stirring up hatred, conflict, and bloody persecution, all in the name of God and religion. The other has always sought to heal human hurts, break down barriers of race and class, and deliver men and women from their guilt, shame, fear, and ignorance.
One is a false church, a counterfeit, masquerading as Christianity, but whose head is Satan. The other is the true church, founded by Jesus Christ, mirroring His authentic character through acts of love, self-sacrifice, courage, and truth.
For some reason, we are continually surprised when we are confronted by this counterfeit church. For some of us, a painful encounter with this false church creates so much pain and disillusionment that we actually begin to doubt the reality of God and His true church! But we shouldn't be surprised or disillusioned when we bump up against counterfeit Christianity. Jesus Himself predicted that the false church would come.

I am a christian, and I have found the same thing with churches. They all have thier own little cliques, and if they don't take a liking to you right away, then you are an outcast. It is not fair, churches are supposed to be places that everyone can go. I think they have an "im better that you" viewpoint. I don't go to church anymore, but I am still a christian. I feel closest to God when I am Outside in the beauty of nature, not with a bunch of gossipers

There is no problem with with God, the Bible, or Jesus Christ its the people that are the problem. They just follow what everybody else is doing which is wrong if they are going to church on Sunday. Peope are the reason for most the problems in the world today. If they really studied there Bible they would find out how to act. They are just lost and hopefully will come to before judgement.

I tend to agree with you. Maybe not the percentage, but you're observation is genuine. I've made the same observation, however I do also find regular Church Goers to be more affable and humanistic than those who are not. That includes Jewish people who go to temple a lot.

This is why I have abandoned church. I still cling tight to my faith in Christ but all church ever did was to hurt me or mine. Fellowship with other like minded people doesn't have to be in church and doesn't have to even be with the same people.. I don't avoid other Christians I just don't let myself get that close anymore.. Too much pain.... Jim

I agree 100%. Plus people go to church in their finest clothing when Jesus was all about rejecting the material things in life.
