I have the option to settle for less on one of my debts but the creditor says that they will report a i9 to the credit beaureas. I know an i9 is for a repo (which this was) and im wondering if I should even bother paying if its still going to hurt my credit?

Of course you should pay. It won't hurt your credit as much as not paying. Plus, you owe it, you pay it.

Either pay now or pay later. Next step is a court judgment against you. Then they can garnish your wages. Negotiate to pay more if they will agree not to I9 your credit. They might go for it. It's all about money. Don't talk with a customer service rep, speak directly with a supervisor - someone that can make decisions on the spot. You actually have a lot of power because as I said, it's all about money.

Actually an I9 is a little better than a repo- it's the code for a collection account. So, after you settle, it will show as a paid collection, not a repo.
