i teach second grade and i have found a WONDERFUL site! it is www.akidsheart.com if you go to that website, toward the bottom is a link to click on that says math worksheet generator. you download a free program and you can print off worksheets over numbers & counting, comparison & place value, time & money, addition, and subtraction. And each time you click one of the topics, it gives you a DIFFERENT worksheet, so it is never the same problems twice.

i have found this to be a LIFE SAVER and a great big help especially for my kids who are struggling with math! GOOD LUCK -- i know how frustrating it can be!

If you can't find any websites then try asking the teacher for some worksheets. If the teacher won't give you some for the child then try making your own work sheets. Like for example have the child bring their math book home and look at what they are doing in school and make some worksheets off of that. If they give you addition and subtraction facts then write the sentence with blanks and have the child write in the missing word or words. If you can make it fun. You can use paper clips or something. For example put 10 paper clips out and say there are 10 paper clips here. If you take away 3 how many do you have left? And then take away 3 paper clips. That way the child will get a visuale picture that will help then understand it better. As with the telling time then you can try going to wallmart or something like that and get a toy clock that you can move the hands on and then do that with the child. Take the clock and move the hands and ask the child what time it is. And you could also draw clocks on a peice of paper and have the child write in the time. You could even make up a nice short fun rhyme that the child can remember to help them with telling time. Good luck.

To be honest the best way to help is by creating some for yourself. If it is simple math (addition and subtraction, telling time) then I see no problem in you making some problems for him to solve.

You could try out coolmath.com . While it doesn't have work sheets to print out and work on, at least to my knowledge it doesn't, it does have some games that are math based according to age and grade. That might be able to help some.

A few examples to use could be, not exactly but you get the point:

1) $20.00 - $7.36 = ?
2) 17 +10 = ?
3) 10:30a + 2:30:00 = ?

Just some simple problems and maybe work in a few brain busters. You could even buy some flash cards, or make those too. Also, get out that old piggy bank and use some coins from it.

You could make a mini-clock. Just get a piece of poster board for the face of the clock. Create an hour and minute hand, then apply them to the face of the clock with a round head fastener (can be bought at any office supply store and don't cost more than $2). For a little fun time, allow your child to help out with making the clock.

I hope I could help you and your child. Good luck with school and happy holidays.

I have a few kids who have struggled with math. You can go to almost any store that carries coloring books anf find math books for specific ages and grades. You may see the child needs to begin with the first grade workbook and then go up from there. I know I gotten them from toys r us and walmart. GOOD LUCK TO U BOTH!

get yr child to do daily tasks which may involve countind, adding, subtracting, i hav no idea what age 2nd grade kids are as in england they use a different process of teaching, but what helped me when i was younger was my mother would let me deal with money, such as giving it to the shop keeper, working out how much change was due and also counting the change making sure it was correct.

Flash cards and interacting with your child is the best way to teach all the basic facts!
