I've been dating this certain guy for 3 years and and I am his support system. I mean his mother died in a car accident when he was 17, then his step-mom died in March of last year, he only knew her for 5 years. He is a paranoid sychophric, he takes his medication, and often goes though these phases where he doesn't feel like talking to anyone, including his girlfirend for 1 or 2 weeks. But, the problem is I care about him a lot and want to take care of him, I try to take care of people. I mean if I had his problem, then I would want to have friends that would always be around me no matter how bad I treated them.

Hi. Just stick by his side because you're a good friend. It's not like he's done anything terrible to you. Offer words of encouragement to build up his spirits so that he knows that he will be okay. Don't leave because you would be crushed if he was hurt or tried to hurt himself, but at the same time you have to live your own life.
