ok, I am truly embarrassed now....I know men have them, but didn't know if a dog did....I feel really dumb now.......thanks for the answers!

It's not a stupid question to me :)
I just took my 3 year old male dog to the vet because of the mysterious bumps he had on his belly. The vet kept looking and looking for the bumps, and when I finally pointed them out she told me those were his nipples :|

Well not an entirely stupid question, most people don't know that human or animal males, not only do they have nipples too, but YES THEY CAN PRODUCE MILK!!!
In the first few weeks after birth, the hormones from the mother are still presant in the offspring, so it causes the baby to lactate.
I know some men after their first born son came out with some milky nipples, they freaked out. but it is very common.

Most mammals (male and female) have nipples. Look at your dad, brother, self (if you are a man). Its completely normal. By the way...a male cat will have nipples too...they are just buried under a lot of fur, some dogs have thinner fur on their stomachs and that is why you are noticing.

all dogs have nipples (just like humans). and, no, like men, male dogs' nipples do not go away. male cats have nipples as well, but their fur probably covers them up. and do you want to know why males have nipples? it is because when embryos are first formed, they are females! it is determined a little after formation if testosterone is going to flood the body, producing male characteristics. and, no, that was not a stupid question. :-)
