It has to do with His perfect justice and the fact that sin and God cannot co-exist together any more than can light and darkeness; one or the other would have to change to semi-light or semi-light.
God does NOT change:
Mal 3:6
6 "I the LORD do not change.
(from New International Version)
IT IS WE WHO HAD TO BE CHANGED. This change was receiving the gift of perfection earned by Jesus on the cross when the justice of the law was fulfilled .
Heb 5:8-10
8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him
(from New International Version)
Heb 10:5-14
5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
"Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me; 6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. 7 Then I said, 'Here I am-it is written about me in the scroll- I have come to do your will, O God.'"
8 First he said, "Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them" (although the law required them to be made). 9 Then he said, "Here I am, I have come to do your will." He sets aside the first to establish the second. 10 And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God. 13 Since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool, 14 because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.
(from New International Version)

God created man to walk in fellowship with Him. He didn't need to because God is Perfect and has the Perfect existance. Then Man sinned in the Garden od Eden and then God cursed man. God then Made it so that Souls can be Saved and redeemed. The Question isn't Why would God need to...? The Question should be Why did God do this for ME?????
The Awnser...........
Because He loves You

i think your perspective of jesus 's death is skewed by a couple things 1st the believed intentions of jesus and second your understandings of who jesus . He was not god we was a man who achieved a state of enlightenment which put him as one with god. gods goodness flowed threw him as if it were god herself. and secondly i believe jesus saw that he was meant to offer as sacrifice himself simply so his courage a goodness would symbolically reach out to so many hearts and minds. i dont understand the rule aspect of your question. but then again its probably not aterribly serious question . but if it is jsut know god needs nothing he only seeks to help and guide us to his home . and sometimes he needs our help to help others.

It is called "the carrot and the stick" approach. It has nothing to do with the true nature of "God". It is just part of a religious sectarian myth.

How else would he become the saviour of mankind?
Just like how Hitler staged a terrorist attack against himself to start a war
Or Bush.....

1st he did not kill himself and 2nd it was us or him. To save us from sin, if Jesus did not die on the cross we all would go to Hell forever.

Hey, you can't just go applying logic to the bible. People might realize that it makes no sense.
